Report: Tottenham have made contact in recent days with £21.9m winger likened to Leroy Sane

Tottenham Hotspur have a strong interest in a £21.9m winger who has been likened to Leroy Sane, according to a recent report.

Ange Postecoglou’s men will be desperate to return to the Champions League after missing out by two points.

The onus will be on the former Celtic man to do just that and it appears he’ll be backed in the window by Daniel Levy and the Spurs board.

That said, it has just emerged that they’re showing a strong interest in a £21.9m winger.

Tottenham Hotspur showing strong interest in Chris Fuhrich

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham Hotspur are showing a strong interest in VfB Stuttgart winger Chris Fuhrich.

The 26-year-old, who can operate on both flanks and through the middle, enjoyed a productive season in the Bundesliga last term, netting eight times whilst laying on seven assists.

Fuhrich has a £21.9m release clause in his contract, attracting interest from London rivals Chelsea.

Stuttgart will be playing Champions League football next season after finishing runners-up to league winners Bayer Leverkusen so he is in no immediate rush to depart.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also looking at him, as are clubs in LaLiga.

Chris Fuhrich statistics

According to FBref, Fuhrich is of a similar profile to former Manchester City and current Bayern Munich wide player Leroy Sane.

The Germany international ranks in the top 14 per cent for progressive carries compared to his positional peers across the big five leagues, evincing his terrific dribbling ability.

Further, he sits in the top 14 per cent for pass completion, amplifying his quality on the ball and pass appreciation.

If Spurs do land his signature for £21.9m, he’d be a great addition and one that’d bolster Postecoglou’s forward ranks ahead of a return to European football.
