Hansi Flick betting on 20-year-old to be next Barcelona revelation as first team role planned

The 2023-24 season was an incredibly disappointing one for Barcelona, with the only shining light being the emergence of several La Masia stars. Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez and Hector Fort will all be in the first team next season, and they should be joined by another youngster: Marc Casado.

Casado is highly regarded within Barcelona, and new manager Hansi Flick also has high hopes for him. A new three-year contract should be finalised in the coming weeks, and once that is completed, the idea is for him to be permanently promoted to the first team from 2024-25 onwards, as reported by Marca.

Casado could replace Oriol Romeu in the first team, with Guido Rodriguez no longer expected to join, or he may be the successor to club captain Sergi Roberto, who’s edging closer to leaving at the end of his contract.

Former manager Xavi Hernandez relied heavily on Barcelona’s youth, and Flick looks set to do similar during his tenure. It makes complete sense after all, considering La Masia is one of, if not the best, academy in Europe.
