England captain Harry Kane has taken to social media to welcome new manager Thomas Tuchel and express his enthusiasm at the appointment.
The 51-year-old former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager was officially named England manager on Wednesday (October 16) and will start work in January.
Putting pen to paper on an 18-month contract, the German has been tasked with bringing football’s ultimate prize back to England at the 2026 World Cup.
With an impressive record in knock-out tournament football, Tuchel took over at Chelsea just after the Champions League group stage had ended and took them to the title, conceding just two goals in the process.
This marks Tuchel’s first job in football since he left Kane, 31, and Bayern at the end of last season after failing to win the Bundesliga title for the club.
Harry Kane ‘excited’ to work with Thomas Tuchel at England
Kane had the most prolific season of his career under Tuchel last season, scoring an impressive 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for the German giants.
Excited by the appointment, Kane took to Instagram to welcome Tuchel and let him know he’s “Looking forward to working under the boss again”.
England are yet to qualify for the knock-out stages of the UEFA Nations League but still have games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland to secure progression.
Interim manager Lee Carsley will still be in charge for those games, but new manager Tuchel may be the man to bring the trophy home.
In other news, Harry Redknapp slammed as ‘bitter’ after his Thomas Tuchel reaction live on air.
