'Has a lot of quality': Arne Slot singles out Chelsea player after Liverpool record 2-1 win
????
Liverpool recorded a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday in what was a thrilling spectacle at Anfield.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones cancelled out a strike from Nicolas Jackson, helping the Reds move ahead of Manchester City and to the top of the Premier League table.

Despite a disappointing result for Enzo Maresca‘s side, the Blues still put up a good fight, with a number of players impressing on Merseyside against Arne Slot‘s men.
In his post-match interview, the Liverpool boss even opted to single out one Chelsea star for praise when hailing Jones for his display.
Arne Slot calls Cole Palmer a “quality” footballer
The 46-year-old is clearly a fan of Cole Palmer.
When asked what he thought of Jones after the Liverpool No.17’s Man of the Match performance, Slot told Sky Sports: “He was very good. Very good individual performance. I think the whole team worked very hard.
“Curtis had a difficult job, he had to control Cole Palmer, which is not easy because, phwoar, this player has a lot of quality.”
Lining up alongside Ryan Gravenberch in a defensive midfield role, the Liverpool academy graduate managed to make a significant impact in both attack and defence, winning the penalty for Salah to open the scoring, before making it 2-1 himself in the second half.
As shown by SofaScore, Jones managed to limit Palmer to just one key pass, one cross and one successful dribble in that No.10 role for Chelsea, and no shots on target.
The man born in Liverpool also stuck out a leg in the first half to prevent the Chelsea No.20 from converting what looked like a certain goal – he well and truly earned his Man of the Match award.
Liverpool have responded to Martin Zubimendi rejection superbly
As was well documented, Liverpool tried to sign Real Sociedad No.4 Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window.
After missing out on the Spain international, the Reds ultimately decided not to sign an alternative, embarking on the 2024/25 campaign with the same midfield Jurgen Klopp left behind – even weaker in fact after the departure of Thiago.
However, Slot has responded brilliantly to mould Gravenberch into a standout No.6 this season, while also empowering Jones – who Jamie Carragher called “outstanding”– to step up and deliver top performances like Sunday’s display.
A proper coach, to say the least.
