'Best player': Gary Neville absolutely blown away by £15,000-a-week Liverpool player vs Chelsea
????
Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds found it difficult to find their usual rhythm as they were up against a Chelsea team who were looking to dominate possession.
But ultimately, Arne Slot’s men showed their maturity and took their moments when they arrived to maintain their position at the summit of the Premier League table.

Gary Neville was absolutely blown away by one Liverpool player in particular and awarded him Man of the Match.
Gary Neville blown away by Curtis Jones vs Chelsea
Speaking on Sky Sports’ commentary, Gary Neville heaped praise on Curtis Jones’ performance and labelled him as the ‘best player on the pitch.’
“Curtis Jones is my man of the match,” Neville said.
“He scored the winner, he’s been the best player on the pitch and has been involved in a lot of Liverpool’s best play.”
Jamie Carragher was also impressed by Jones’ display as he completely controlled the Liverpool midfield alongside Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot.
His statistics amplified that.
Jones’ impressive statistics vs Chelsea
Jones’ Sofascore statistics make for very impressive reading, indeed.
- 81 minutes
- 56 touches
- 1 goal
- 2 key passes
- 90% pass completion
- 6/9 duels won
- 3 tackles
The 23-year-old, who earns around £15,000-a-week per Spotrac, netted the winner and could’ve had two assists himself – having made two key passes.
It was an accomplished performance and one that’ll surely have him on the radar of the newly-appointed England boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to take charge in January.
Jones has now started back-to-back games in the Premier League and is establishing himself as a regular under Slot.
