'Hate it' - Brazil reacts to what McCoist pointed out about Rangers loss v Celtic

Alan Brazil made his thoughts on VAR clear as the fallout from the Rangers versus Celtic showdown continues.

The Scottish Football Association is set to issue an apology to the Gers over a controversial incident in the penalty shootout loss on Sunday (15 December).

Rangers felt they should have been awarded a penalty for a foul against Vaclav Cerny, which VAR did not ask referee John Beaton to have a second look at.

That has led to widespread criticism, and Ally McCoist joked on talkSPORT Breakfast [18 December, 9:05am] that VAR was not in use at Hampden Park.

“We’re the first association in Europe to do away with VAR,” he said. “Certainly on Sunday they did away with it, not to use it for whatever reason.”

Brazil interjected with: “I hate it”.

Rangers cheated against Celtic as VAR fallout rumbles on

This is not a case of sour grapes. Rangers were cheated out of a penalty at a crucial moment in the contest.

Not only that, VAR seemingly forgot the rules in terms of asking the referee to check given it was a clear and obvious error.

As former FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Ibrox News, the SFA have effectively held their hands up and accepted an error was made.

Given the magnitude of the contest, a cup final in the fiercest rivalry in world football, it is staggering this was allowed to happen.

An apology will be forthcoming in the next day or so, but that makes absolutely no difference. Rangers were cheated at Hampden.

It would not be as bad if this was a one-off, but it is not the first time and certainly will not be the last time that VAR dominates the headlines.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement will have the final say on whether the Gers sign a striker from an SPFL rival.
