‘He’s an incredible specimen’: Asmir Begovic says Everton have a ‘top player’ at Goodison Park
Asmir Begovic says that Everton have an 'incredible specimen' in the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin after joining in the summer.
Everton have had a start to the season to forget, currently sitting rock bottom in the Premier League with Sean Dyche’s future potentially in doubt.
The Toffees have conceded a whopping ten goals in three games and even threw away a two-goal advantage late on against Bournemouth last time out.
Sean Dyche has a big job on his hands to turn things around at Goodison Park, with Everton even considering David Moyes as a potential successor.
Moyes won the Europa League with West Ham and achieved many promising finishes in the Premier League.
Next up is Aston Villa away from home in the Premier League, which certainly won’t be an easier.
Interestingly, one of the club’s summer signings Asmir Begovic thinks that Everton have a ‘top player’ at the club who could help save their season…
Asmir Begovic really impressed by ‘incredible specimen’ at Everton
Asmir Begovic put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Everton in the summer.
And, it appears as if Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been catching the eye of the Bosnian.
Speaking to Alex Goldberg on the Byline YouTube channel, Begovic was full of praise for the Englishman.
“He’s a top player when he’s fit. I know from my spell a couple of years ago that we’re a different team with him on the pitch.
“The record speaks for itself when he has a prolonged spell on the pitch, when he is healthy then he can be a handful.
“I mean obviously he’s an incredible specimen physically, so his strength, holding the ball up aerially, bringing other players into play, which can be really, really important.”
What’s been going on involving John Textor and a potential Everton takeover?
Everton fans will be hoping that a takeover, whether by John Textor or another party, can solve the club’s cash flow issues and see out the move to Bramley Moore Dock.
The American is Farhad Moshiri‘s preferred bidder, but he still has issues to deal with regarding his shares in Crystal Palace before he can even think about an Everton takeover.
With the Toffees’ Premier League status still unknown for next season, it remains to be seen as to whether that would put Textor off.
But, one thing relegation could mean is that the revenue for games at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium comes in under what may have been expected, with fans perhaps turning their nose up at the Championship.
