Celtic fans are 'shocked' by Kasper Schmeichel update

Celtic fans have been stunned by the signing of Kasper Schmeichel as the goalkeeper now looks set to arrive at Parkhead.

Football Insider has learned that Schmeichel has completed a medical in Italy and will head out to join the team on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, backed the club to get a deal over the line and insisted fans “would love” to see a deal done.

Now, fans have rejoiced at the news that the Denmark international looks set to join the Hoops and have gushed over the impressive business.

Schmeichel became available on a free transfer after leaving Anderlecht last season, allowing Celtic to swoop and land his signature with no fee involved.

After Joe Hart retired at the end of last season, Brendan Rodgers’ side were searching for a new goalkeeper, with Schmeichel fitting a similar mould to Hart.

He is also still playing regular international football and was a key part of the Demark squad who were eventually eliminated from Euro 2024 by hosts Germany.

Fans have described the deal as “excellent” and are now looking forward to seeing what he can do at Parkhead.

In other news, Frank McAvennie has hit out at Callum McGregor after an “embarrassing” claim.
