Rangers are likely to sell Jack Butland for half the £30million fee suggested by Philippe Clement.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie explained that Rangers are “not going to get” anywhere near £30m for the goalkeeper.
Due to their financial situation, the Gers need to sell before they can buy this summer and as one of the club’s top stars Butland is someone who could be set to depart Ibrox Stadium.
Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs interested in the shot-stopper, which could lead to a return to England for him ahead of the new season.
Clement revealed that every Rangers player has a price, which casts doubts over the long-term futures of the entire squad.
Rangers have to be realistic about what Jack Butland is worth
The goalkeeper only joined the Scottish giants last season on a free transfer, but he instantly became a crucial member of the squad.
Butland played 58 times for the Gers last season and kept 25 clean sheets, being heavily backed by Clement.
The goalkeeper is under contract until 2027 which puts Rangers in a strong position for negotiations, but that doesn’t guarantee big money.
“You’ll get £15million for him, I would think,” McAvennie told Football Insider.
“If you get 20 [million], brilliant.
“You’re not going to get 30 [million], that’s for sure.”
