John Textor is “progressing” in his bid to purchase Everton from Farhad Moshiri, according to Alan Myers.
The respected journalist was asked on X [14 September] if he can see this latest takeover attempt succeeding at this stage.
While Myers fell short of giving a categorical answer, he suggested things are at least looking positive on that front.
“Honestly, I don’t know but it’s certainly progressing at this point,” he said.
John Textor looks the right man for Everton
Some have raised concerns regarding Textor, not helped by his public interview this week when perhaps giving a little too much information away.
However, in comparison to the Friedkin Group and in particular 777 Partners, the American has far more credibility and seems a good fit.
Everton fans have been scarred too many times, though, and the longer these talks drag on, the more likely it looks like the same outcome.
It is rather farcical when you consider 777 first entered talks to purchase the club around this time last year.
Supporters were excited for change, but it soon emerged that 777 were not suited to running Everton and thankfully that deal collapsed.
Textor now has support behind him, with Bloomberg reporting [13 September] that Aliya Capital Partners are also backing his bid.
This is a hugely important period in the Toffees’ history, so let’s just hope there is a further positive development before too long.
In other Everton news, details on Textor’s attempt to buy another London club have emerged.
