'I am sure': Troy Deeney has a theory about what Steve Parish has told Marc Guehi after claims he's about to join Newcastle
????
Newcastle United have made five additions so far this summer transfer window and are now close to adding a sixth.
Newcastle are in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and it’s now believed the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement.
Guehi is expected to cost north of £60m after an impressive Euro 2024 campaign with England, helping them to a runners-up finish.
Amidst all of the outside noise, Troy Deeney has a theory about what Palace owner Steve Parish is telling the 24-year-old.
Troy Deeney shares what Steve Parish may have told Marc Guehi
Speaking on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, Deeney had a theory about what Parish has been telling Guehi behind the scenes.
“I think he has handled it perfectly,” the former Watford striker said.
“You do what you should do. You play because if you are in a situation, I am sure, knowing Steve Parish, he would have said to him, look, the fee is this, if they get to this, you can go, no problem.
“So he’s now going, we know the fee is there, that’s on them to sort, but a good summer, he has come out, he’s one of the few that has enhanced his reputation with England.
Deeney continued: “So train well, play well, and then if the deal does get done, he’s match-fit, he’s ready, he goes straight into the Newcastle team.
“So I think he’s an example to loads of young kids now. That’s how you should do it.”
Marc Guehi is a statement signing
If Newcastle do get the Guehi deal over the line, it’d certainly be regarded as one of the signings of the summer and a real coup.
His addition would significantly strengthen Howe’s defensive ranks and add leadership to the group, too.
A telling few days await…
