Rangers summer signing Neraysho Kasanwirjo has remained noncommittal on whether he would return to Feyenoord at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old defender moved to Ibrox in the summer on loan from the Dutch side and has been a bit-part player under Philippe Clement so far.
However, he has lauded the Belgian’s directness in trying to improve his game after being asked the question as the Netherlands under-21s beat Sweden on 14 October.
“I was well received in Scotland,” Kasanwirjo said, as quoted by Voetbal Primuer. “The coach is very direct and I need that.
“Feyenoord next year? Who knows…”
Neraysho Kasanwirjo is a good long-term option for Rangers
Kasanwirjo’s arrival at Ibrox on loan from Feyenoord, coupled with his performances and versatility across the backline, suggests he could be James Tavernier’s long-term successor who has struggled defensively.
Although initially seen as a bit-part player, the 22-year-old’s ability to play not just at right-back but also as a centre-back and left-back provides Gers with a versatile option that modern football demands.
His potential to fill multiple positions adds depth and tactical flexibility to the squad.
Given Tavernier’s age and the natural progression of a squad’s evolution, Rangers would benefit from securing Kasanwirjo permanently.
His development under Clement’s direct coaching approach could mould him into a key figure.
The Ibrox outfit must now leverage his adaptability and the promise of regular first-team action to tempt him away from Feyenoord, ensuring they have a player who can grow into Tavernier’s role while offering more across the backline.
In other Rangers news, an ex-player has issued an update on his potential return to the club and has already spoken to the current first-team squad.
