The Premier League has been blessed with so many talented African footballers.
From Yaya Toure to Riyad Mahrez, there have been some incredible players from Africa to grace the English top-flight in recent years.
Speaking to Mail Sport on TikTok, former Manchester United loanee, Sofyan Amrabat has been discussing some of the best African players in the history of the league.
Amrabat was a part of the Morocco team that became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup back in 2022, so he knows a thing or two about this subject.
The midfielder had good things to say about the likes of Toure and Didier Drogba, but he ultimately decided that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was the best African player the Premier League has ever seen.

Mohamed Salah is the Premier League’s best African player
Amrabat chose Salah as the best African player in Premier League history.
Amrabat actually joked that he himself was better than Salah, before ultimately conceding that nobody is better than the winger.
“Mahrez or Didier Drogba?” Amrabat was asked.
“Didier Drogba,’ Amrabat said.
“Drogba or Yaya Toure?”
“I really like Yaya Toure as a player, so it is difficult, but I’m thinking it’s Drogba,” Amrabat replied.
“Drogba or Salah?”
“Salah,” Amrabat said.
“Is anyone better than Salah?” The host asked.
“Amrabat? No, I’m joking, I think no,” Amrabat stated.
What Didier Drogba has said about Mohamed Salah
Amrabat reckons that Drogba and Salah are two of the best African players to play in the Premier League, and, interestingly, once upon a time, they were teammates at Chelsea.
Indeed, for a brief spell, Salah and Drogba were a part of the same team, but, unfortunately, their peaks didn’t overlap so we never got to see this partnership in full effect.
Drogba was always a big fan of Salah though. The striker called the Egyptian a legend in the making before he’d really burst onto the scene, and he pointed out that he was proven right on that matter years later.
Meanwhile, Salah has also had good things to say about Drogba in the past.
In fact, Salah recently stated that Drogba had one of the most powerful shots he’s ever seen.
Which of these two players is better is up for debate, but they’re both undeniably legendary figures in the Premier League and on their continent.
