Report: Arsenal to send scouts to watch Champions League striker with 'everything in his locker', 13 goals from 13 games

Arsenal could well look to delve into the transfer market when the window reopens in January.

The Gunners made a number of strong signings in the summer, helping them start the season well.

However, despite being linked with a striker throughout the summer, Arsenal did not bring in a new centre-forward.

Though this hasn’t affected them, with Kai Havertz in outstanding form, there’s certainly scope for Mikel Arteta and Edu to bolster their attacking ranks.

Now, according to GiveMeSport, Arsenal will be sending scouts to watch an “unbelievable” No. 9 who has 13 goals from 13 games this term.

Arsenal set to scout Viktor Gyokeres against Manchester City

The player in question is Viktor Gyokeres, who has gone from strength to strength since joining Sporting Lisbon in 2023.

Gyokeres registered a staggering 43 goals and 15 assists from 50 club games last season, and this term he has 13 goals and four assists already.

Sporting are set to host Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday 5 November.

According to GiveMeSport, scouts from Arsenal and other leading clubs across Europe have pinpointed this game an ideal opportunity to run the rule over Gyokeres.

As per Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old has a €100million (£83.3million) release clause.

Arsenal target Gyokeres has ‘everything in his locker’

Back in 2022, Coventry City manager Mark Robins told the Coventry Telegraph about Gyokeres: “He is what you see.

“He’s not the finished article by any stretch of the imagination but he has some unbelievable ability – power, technique.

“He has got everything in his locker and that desire and hunger to score goals. And he’s also got a really angry side as well, which he has got to calm a little bit because if it’s not going his way he can get angry with himself and you see it from time to time.”

Two years on, and Gyokeres is certainly a lot closer to the finished article than when he was at Coventry, hence links with the likes of Arsenal.

Gyokeres’ goal and assist stats show he is ready for a big move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the Gunners will certainly fancy their chances.
