It’s not too often the best in the Premier League go for the same Championship player but it looks like Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United all have eyes on the same midfielder going into 2025.
Over the years, we have seen some top players make the step up from the second tier to Premier League level but in the main, they are snapped up quickly without too much fuss.
Indeed, we saw last summer how Tottenham signed Archie Gray from Leeds, while Fulham pinched Burnley’s Sander Berge as well in the same window.
Of course, there are some in the Championship who may feel they’re too good and warrant a move to the Premier League at some point.
And according to GiveMeSport, one of those players could be Middlesbrough midfielder, Hayden Hackney.
Tottenham and Newcastle expecting Manchester United bid for Hayden Hackney
According to the report from GMS, Hackney is very much in demand, with Tottenham and Newcastle the two clubs most keen on him.
Spurs and the Magpies are both keen on signing Hackney in January but there is a feeling that Middlesbrough have set their stall out early and are not considering a sale.
However, if Middlesbrough do look like they could sell in the summer, then Manchester United are also thought to be among the interested parties.
United have recently signed Manuel Ugarte but with the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely to leave, a place in midfield will open up.
Hayden Hackney an outstanding talent
Most Championship clubs know that they will lose their best talent if the Premier League comes knocking and Hayden Hackney will be no different at Middlesbrough.
Lauded as an ‘outstanding‘ young midfielder, Tottenham are already known to have sent scouts to watch Hackney in person earlier in the season.

Boro, of course, will be hoping they can win promotion and in the end, convince Hackney to stay.
But with this trio of big clubs looking on and Premier League riches on offer in terms of a contract, Hackney looks like being one to watch in the summer of 25.
