‘I understand’: Journalist shares what Arsenal told Benjamin Sesko about Kai Havertz in negotiations

Benjamin Sesko isn’t joining Arsenal this summer.

The striker is instead set to stay with RB Leipzig in what is a serious blow for the Gunners.

The Slovenian was said to be the north London club’s number one transfer target, but, unfortunately, negotiations didn’t quite go to plan.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has provided some insight into Arsenal’s talks with Sesko and what the Gunners told the striker about Kai Havertz.

What Arsenal told Benjamin Sesko about Kai Havertz

Jones shared some insight into Arsenal’s talks with Sesko.

“I still think that Kai Havertz starts the season as the number nine and as far as I understand Zirkzee has been made aware of that and Sesko had been made aware of that as well. If you’re a forward and that’s where you’re heading you’d want some guarantee of gametime, and Arsenal aren’t necessarily giving that to a number nine type striker,” Jones said.

Arsenal’s striker struggles

This may explain why Arsenal are struggling to sign a striker so far this summer.

Think about it, any player making a transfer to a big club will be looking to get regular minutes, but, unfortunately, Arsenal aren’t currently offering that.

Havertz seems to have his spot cemented as Arsenal’s starting striker going into next season, and that may mean that the Gunners miss out on some fantastic players in this window.

Of course, Havertz has earned his spot after his fantastic form since the turn of the year, but as his previous four years worth of performances have shown, the German can blow hot and cold, so it’s a serious risk to put your eggs in this particular basket.

Arsenal need a striker through the door this summer, but, unfortunately, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign a top-class player if they’re outwardly pushing the idea that Havertz will be starting the season up front during negotiations.
