Ibrox View: Belief surely building after what Craig Moore said about Rangers investment

Rangers’ hierarchy will be desperate for some type of investment to emerge at Ibrox ahead of the January transfer window.

The Gers’ gulf in terms of spending has been widening compared to their Old Firm rivals, Celtic, which has caused a lot more friction and frustration amongst the fans at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement and his team will be desperate to compete at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, though being nine points adrift after 11 matches is clearly far from ideal for the manager.

Although a handful of millions was spent on the likes of Nedim Bajrami, Robin Propper, Hamza Igamane and Mohamed Diomande, loans and free transfers made up much of the rest of the summer transfers.

With Celtic selling Matthew O’Riley to Brighton for £25million [BBC Sport], the Hoops were able to splash the cash on the likes of Arne Engels, Auston Trusty, Adam Idah and Paulo Bernado, only increasing the gap.

If the Rangers boardroom are to fix this ever-widening gap, they must find a new source of income at Ibrox, and Craig Moore’s recent comments will alleviate some pressure.

Rangers to secure investment ahead of January transfer window?

Speaking to the Go Radio Football Show [21 November], Moore said: “I’m pretty sure that there will be investment coming into the club in December.

“I’m pretty sure, in December, there will be money coming into the football club that I’m sure they will try and look to utilise in terms of strengthening the squad.”

It sounds as though Moore has some kind of inside knowledge of the situation, but even if he doesn’t, his comments will be music to fans’ ears ahead of the next transfer window.

If the Light Blues have any chance of lifting the Scottish Premiership title, or even having some success in the Europa League, there will need to be multiple additions once the January window opens.

Unless something changes in terms of investment, it could be a difficult winter for the Gers.

In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has made a new transfer claim on a player who was linked to Ibrox in the summer.
