Ibrox View: Dessers axed in four changes - Rangers predicted XI v St Mirren

Philippe Clement could drop Cyriel Dessers from his Rangers side to face St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday (27 October).

The Gers will host the eighth-placed side at Ibrox eager to return to winning ways in the SPFL after the shock 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock last weekend.

Clement engineered a remarkable 4-0 win against FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday [24 October], with changes expected to be made to his side as attention returns to domestic action.

Rangers may hand Hamza Igamane a rare start in place of Dessers after his goal at Ibrox midweek, and Ross McCausland could also return to the side with Tom Lawrence a doubt to feature heading into the weekend.

Philippe Clement to name four changes for Rangers v St Mirren

Jack Butland has remained ever-present in the Gers goal this season and despite his “astonishing” howler against FCSB, the 31-year-old should continue as the undisputed number one between the sticks.

James Tavernier is another fortunate Rangers player expected to assume his role at right-back after a somehow underwhelming outing in the Europa League. The boss seems against placing his faith in Dujon Sterling, therefore the captain should continue his full-back duties.

John Souttar and Robin Propper are the established centre-back partnership at Ibrox and look set to continue at the back, with Jefte expected to line up again at left-back as Neraysho Kasanwirjo continues to bide his time for opportunities under Clement.

Nicolas Raskin got the nod over Mohammed Diomande for the Europa League clash. However, with a monumental top-of-the-table match against Aberdeen next week, the Belgian is in line to earn a much-needed rest with Diomande allowed the opportunity to fight for his place in the side.

Connor Barron, unlike Butland and Tavernier, was “brilliant” against FCSB and should start again against St Mirren as he emerges as an important player at Ibrox.

Vaclav Cerny continued his incredible goalscoring form with a brace against FCSB, and the Czech forward now has five goals and two assists in 12 appearances across all competitions for the Gers. He should therefore continue to make the right-wing spot his own against St Mirren.

The Gers are fearful Lawrence sustained a potential long-term injury midweek – should the 30-year-old need time to recover, Nedim Bajrami is the best bet to deputise in the attacking midfield role, with McCausland then potentially starting his first match since the international break on the left flank.

Dessers has been poor compared to his usual standards at Rangers this season and stunk out Ibrox with his display in the Europa League. With a measly three goals in the SPFL this year, Igamane should be rewarded with a starting berth after he opened his Gers account against FCSB.

In other Rangers news, an incident between the Gers and FCSB left Bill Leckie baffled inside Ibrox.
