Philippe Clement has already admitted that Rangers may have to sell before buying more players during the summer transfer window.
The Belgian has added to his squad this summer but has failed to move several exit-linked stars out of Ibrox despite speculation surrounding the likes of Todd Cantwell, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier.
One man who has also been linked with the exit door is English defender Ben Davies, with some suggesting he could be closing the door on his time in Glasgow in the coming weeks.
The Fourth Official (2 July) reported that the centre-back was ready to leave Ibrox this summer having fallen down the pecking order under Clement, with several clubs, including Sheffield United, eyeing a potential transfer.
However, the 28-year-old may have dropped a new hint about his future this summer as he admitted that he is finally comfortable and settled as a Rangers player.
As quoted by the Rangers Review on Monday (15 July) he said: “I think coming away on training camp, it is good to get the work in, but it is also good to be together the whole time.
“You get to learn about the new players and the friends that you have made over, for me, the last two years. You feel comfy around them now. We are all in it together and we are pushing for the best.
“I am not saying that I haven’t felt settled over the last two years, but I think the longer you are here… The more you move about, it gets a bit bitty, you know what I mean?
“When you feel settled, you feel more comfy full stop.”
Will Ben Davies exit Rangers amid summer transfer speculation?
Davies’ comments certainly don’t sound like those of a player desperate to leave Ibrox this summer, instead the Englishman sounds as though he is keen to get back to his best under Clement.
While things can always change quickly in the transfer window and the Gers may well push him towards a switch if the right offer is made, a move away from Glasgow doesn’t appear to be imminent.
If the 28-year-old is to stay at Rangers beyond the end of the window, hopefully, he will manage to get back to his best and hold down a consistent place in the starting XI.
If he spends another campaign on the bench and the treatment table, it will be a complete waste of both his and the Gers’ time.
