Connor Barron is likely to be delighted with the news that Belgium won’t chase Philippe Clement unless he is sacked by Rangers.

The Scotland Under-21 international joined the Gers on a free transfer from Aberdeen over the summer and has performed well at Ibrox so far this season.

The 22-year-old’s positive start to life with the Light Blues has come despite a difficult start to the season, seeing his side sitting third in the Scottish Premiership.

It is clear that Clement has helped to get the best out of the midfielder and as a result, Barron will be pleased to hear that the manager doesn’t appear to be leaving to join the Belgium.

Ibrox News understands that the Red Devils will not look to bring the Gers boss in as manager while he is in charge in Glasgow.

This comes after being linked with the national team job with Domenico Tedesco at risk of the sack after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Israel on 17 November [Daily Record].

A move is said to be unrealistic at this stage for Belgium [Alexandre Braeckman and RTL Sports] which will only please Barron.

Clement is not a very popular figure around Ibrox right now but there is no doubt he has got the best out of the midfield summer signing which is a silver lining to a frustrating start to the season.

There haven’t been many success stories so far this season with the likes of James Tavernier struggling for form but the ex-Aberdeen man hasn’t suffered a similar fate.

The young midfielder will be hoping that he can maintain this form and if he is to do so, the backing of the Belgian manager could make a difference for his development.
