Belgium are unlikely to turn to Rangers manager Philippe Clement to replace Domenico Tedesco, according to Stephen McGinn.

Tedesco is facing an uncertain future as Belgium coach after the 1-0 loss to Israel on Sunday [17 November] and Clement is being mooted as a candidate to take over [Daily Record].

McGinn, though, cannot see Clement being given the Red Devils job and said that he would be sacked if it happened.

“I’d be shocked, can’t see it anyway”, McGinn said on The Go Radio Football Show [19 November].

“Belgium, obviously, real disappointing over the last couple of years. They had Roberto Martinez, Tedesco… it’s not quite going for him.

“But, I’d be shocked if they went for Philippe Clement.”

Philippe Clement to Belgium not happening as ‘shocked’ Rangers claim made

Belgium’s new sporting director Vincent Mannaert is tasked with finding a new coach for the national team if it comes to it and it is worth noting that he knows Clement from his time at Club Brugge.

The Red Devils, though, may wait until the 50-year-old is sacked by Rangers before making a move [Foot News].

Rangers, meanwhile, are reluctant to pull the plug on the Belgian tactician in the absence of a permanent chairman and CEO, according to Ludo Vandewalle of Het Nieuwsblad.

Furthermore, sources have told Ibrox News that the Belgian FA will not pursue Clement if is he not sacked at Ibrox.

Belgium have to pay £625,000 to sack Tedesco and his coaches [Sacha Tavolieri], and they would have to fork out more money if they want to sign the former Genk boss from the Gers.

It is, therefore, understandable why the national team are insisting on only making a move for the coach if he is not contracted to the Light Blues.

In other Rangers news, the door is open for the Light Blues to make an offer for this player after a new twist.
