Cyriel Dessers may have started his last ever game for Rangers with the January transfer window right around the corner.
The Nigerian striker, despite playing 54 matches in all competitions last season, has found himself on the fringes at Ibrox this time around.
It seems that the club are planning for life without him as SNL24 claimed on 19 December that Mamelodi Sundowns forward Iqraam Rayners is being considered in the coming weeks.
Cyriel Dessers has fallen down the pecking order at Rangers
With Hamza Igamane and Danilo already ahead of Dessers in the pecking order, Rayners’ arrival will only make things worse for the 30-year-old.
It’s understood that the South African striker’s arrival would see Rangers cashing in on Dessers in January, as per Soccernet.ng on 20 December.
Given Clement’s preferences, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Dessers is no longer considered for a start either.
His last start was back in November, in the 1-1 draw against Dundee and since then, he has not played more than 25 minutes in a single game.
While he may have six goals to his name from 15 league appearances, a lot of those have been in games where Gers were winning regardless.
Given his age, they’re unlikely to get anything more for his services down the line, so cashing in on him makes sense in the January transfer window.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has issued another claim on Philippe Clement being sacked with the game against Celtic around the corner.
