Ianis Hagi may have returned to the first-team fold for Rangers but he will have to perform instantly after being handed a second chance.
The Rangers Review reported on 1 October that the stand-off between the Romanian and the club had finally come to an end.
This comes after months of sidelining the 25-year-old and it seemed for weeks that he had played his last game for the club.
Philippe Clement had confirmed Ianis Hagi’s Rangers departure
Philippe Clement himself confirmed that it appeared certain the wide attacker would be departing Ibrox in the summer transfer window.
For the longest time, the club did not even consider re-picking Hagi in order to save costs as there’s a clause in his contract that will see Rangers paying him a higher salary if he plays one more game.
Speaking about the situation on 2 October, Clement said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun: “It’s a new signing in that way, because I was never able to work with him and to have him in my squad.
“That it was a contract issue from before my time, so the issue is solved.
“So both parties, the club and Hagi came together and now it’s resolved.”
Ianis Hagi may still leave Rangers in January
However, with the January transfer window only three months away, there is another chance for the club to cash in on him.
Steaua Bucharest were desperate to sign him in the summer and if his performances do not impress Clement, they could look to sell him to the Romanian side who may want to sign him again in January.
If Hagi does want to secure his future at the club, he will need to make a telling impact in the final third and prove to the club why he’s an important asset.
In other Rangers news, a defender has sealed an out-of-window transfer to leave Ibrox and join a British club.
