Philippe Clement could put the final nail in the coffin for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham in the clash against Rangers.

The Gers will host Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday [12 December], with Clement already accused of making “excuses” ahead of the clash.

However, a victory would cement the Light Blues inside the top eight in the league phase, and Richard Keys shared in his blog [9 December] that he believes Tottenham could be in trouble on Thursday.

Writing: “I’m genuinely worried for big Ange now. I didn’t like the tv pictures of a stoney-faced Daniel Levy after Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea. I smell trouble.

“No Spurs fan wants to see their team beaten they way they were yesterday (Sunday) but it was great entertainment – a 7-goal thriller. Isn’t it entertainment that Spurs fans crave?

“I enjoy watching Spurs. They’re direct – but soft. That’s what makes them refreshing for the neutral. But if you’re a fan is it what you want? Or are you missing Conte and Mourinho? Your move Daniel.”

Rangers can have the last laugh over Ange Postecoglou and Celtic

Postecoglou is returning to Glasgow in the most dire of circumstances.

The former Celtic boss is under intense pressure at Tottenham heading into the clash against Rangers after a string of inconsistent performances in North London.

Rangers are a different beast in Europe, having marched to a resounding 4-1 win against Nice last time out – all the chips are firmly in the European basket, with the Scottish Premiership campaign null and void at Ibrox.

Furthermore, the Light Blues will face Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday [15 December], and they could enter the fixture with immediate bragging rights in Glasgow should they beat Tottenham and cause Postecoglou’s dismissal.

The Australian’s future in the Premier League could be decided at Ibrox, and Spurs have struggled for consistency across all competitions this term; the volatile atmosphere awaiting in Glasgow could tip the visitors over the edge.

While Clement’s future is far from secure at Rangers, the Belgian has the unlikely advantage against superior Premier League opposition, with this match on Thursday promising to be a thriller.
