John Wenham believes “it is a long way back” for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose suspects that some of the club’s most loyal supporters have turned on the Australian after what happened after the defeat against Bournemouth.

Fans were visibly frustrated after losing 1-0 in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December], with one player blasted by Alan Shearer after an “awful” moment.

Therefore, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Postecoglou could struggle to turn things around in North London.

“Those scenes at the end of the match were incredibly disappointing,” Wenham said.

“The supporters who would have travelled to Bournemouth are the proper hardcore Tottenham supporters. It wasn’t just one person booing, there was a group of fans all visibly frustrated.

“There was some incredibly volatile language aimed at the manager. These are the real hardcore fans, down at Bournemouth on a Thursday night, so if they’re turning on you, it is a long way back from there.”

Ange Postecoglou facing the sack at Tottenham?

Things don’t get any easier for Postecoglou with Chelsea set to visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday [8 December]. The Australian could make three changes for this match, however, considering the injury issues which are piling up, a win looks incredibly unlikely.

Following that are matches against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool. Therefore, it is easy to see why Wenham has suggested it could be a long way back for Postecoglou.

His back is certainly up against the wall and now is the time for the 59-year-old to demonstrate what he is made of. Otherwise, it could soon be curtains on his reign as Tottenham boss.

In other Tottenham news, the club will jet a forward into the UK within days as a January signing is agreed.
