'I'd ask him...' - Textor shares Dyche plan in new Everton takeover admission

John Textor has admitted he plans to sit down with Sean Dyche to discuss the future of Everton moving forward.

The American billionaire has entered a period of exclusivity with Farhad Moshiri to acquire the Toffees with Textor suggesting that he is confident a deal can be completed before the end of November [Sky Sports, 11 September].

While it has been suggested that Textor is keen to make a change in the dugout [Alan Nixon, 8 September], the prospective Blues owner insists he is not planning to immediately tinker with the coaching department.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (11 September) he said: “I don’t know Sean [Dyche] personally but I watched him for so many years at Burnley doing wonders with no budget and so obviously he’s a guy who knows how to coach in the Premier League.

“I’d sit down with him at some point in the future and say that I’m going to bring him a very different profile of player from any corner of the world and ask him if he is interested.

“I’d ask him if he could coach this squad. I like that he has bought the big, tough Irish kid Jake O’Brien but does he like [Botafogo forwards] Igor Jesus or Luis Henrique? Does he have an ambition to coach that sort of profile?

“Does he have a system that would work for a squad that is optimised from the best players in the world? That’s further down the line, but I’m certainly not tinkering in the coaching department.”

Will John Textor sack Everton boss Sean Dyche at Goodison Park?

While some sections of the Everton support have begun to grow tired of Dyche and his direct style of play, the fanbase appears to be divided over whether or not he should lose his job after the poor start to the season.

Undoubtedly, the results and the football so far this season have been nowhere near good enough, but there are few managers more experienced when it comes to scrapping at the foot of the table than the Englishman.

With only a year left on his deal on Merseyside, it will be interesting to see whether or not the former Burnley manager is at all interested in coaching this sort of new-look squad Textor has mooted.

That should hopefully become clearer between now and the end of the season if and when the American’s takeover is completed. Until then, however, it doesn’t seem as though he will be pulling the trigger on Dyche anytime soon.
