'I'll talk about it with my agents': £59m centre-back shares update on his future after Liverpool links emerge

Liverpool are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks as they look to give Arne Slot the best possible start as Reds manager.

Jurgen Klopp has laid some solid foundations at Liverpool and the Reds board must now do all they can to build on those.

Liverpool are likely to look at bringing in some new defenders in wake of Joel Matip’s Anfield departure after his contract expired.

In recent days, the Reds have been linked with an “exceptional” centre-back who has now shared what he plans to do in the coming weeks.

Gleison Bremer says he’ll discuss his future with his agents

The player in question is Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, who is currently on Copa America duty with Brazil.

According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, Liverpool are showing an interest in the 27-year-old, who is said to have a £59million price tag.

As well as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are also believed to be keen on Bremer, with Bayern Munich leading the interest from the continent.

When asked about his future, Bremer told AS, via Gazzetta dello Sport: “I am very focused on the Copa America and I leave the matter to my agents.

“Of course, I have read some things and I am happy to know that clubs with so much history are following me, but the truth is that I will talk about it with my agents after the Copa America.”

However, Bremer also seemed to suggest that he’s not planning to leave Juve any time soon.

“I have matured a lot,” he continued. “When I signed for Juventus I already had a good knowledge of the championship and also of the country.

“Little by little we are helping Juventus to return to being a protagonist and to fight for great objectives.

“I sincerely hope that next season will be a great joy for all of us, players and fans.”

Who is Liverpool target Gleison Bremer?

Bremer has made a name for himself as one of the best defenders in Europe thanks to his heroics in Italy, first with Torino and now with Juventus.

In 2022, the 6ft 2in defender was the Serie A Defender of the Year, and the following year, he made the league’s Team of the Season.

The Juve website previously described Bremer as ‘one of the best defenders in circulation’ and an ‘exceptional’ talent.

In 2022, scouting outlet Foot The Ball noted how Bremer’s numbers were ‘comparable to Virgil van Dijk and Ruben Dias’.

In addition, Juventus legend Sergio Brio sung Bremer’s praises earlier this year, as per Tuttosport via Il Bianconero.

“Juve’s strong point is definitely the defence,” he said. “They concede few goals and are showing great solidity.

“I really like Bremer. He’s an exceptional player with great timing and positioning on the pitch.

“The Brazilian is the best defender in Serie A today. I’m certain of it.”
