'Can't see it': Sky journalist says he doesn't believe Tottenham will sign £60m Newcastle player now

Tottenham Hotspur need a new striker.

Spurs are yet to sign a new centre-forward since selling the greatest goalscorer in the club’s history last summer, and it’s fair to say that Harry Kane’s absence at Spurs is felt.

Luckily, the transfer window is open, and there are plenty of options that Spurs could go for.

Alexander Isak is one player who has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent times.

However speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has poured cold water on this one, claiming that he can’t see Isak signing for Tottenham this summer.

Alexander Isak unlikely to sign for Tottenham

Sheth shared his verdict on Isak and Tottenham’s links with the striker.

“I’m not surprised there is an interest in him. Tottenham won’t be the only club interested in Alexander Isak because he’s a fantastic player,” Sheth said.

“I don’t think Newcastle are now in a position where they’re under pressure to sell these players. Tottenham, of course, it’s good that they’re interested in players like this, that can only be a good sign, but I can’t see it happening.

“I could be wrong, but I can’t see that move happening because of the contract situation, the feeling that he’s happy at Newcastle and the strength Newcastle have that he’s not for sale. I can’t see it at the moment.”

Alexander Isak’s next move will be huge

It’s not a surprise to hear that Tottenham are unlikely to sign the £60m man this summer.

Isak is Newcastle’s crown jewel and it would take an absolute fortune to pry him away from St James’ Park.

Even if Isak was to leave Newcastle, surely his next move is to join one of Europe’s elite clubs rather than join a team like Tottenham where Champions League football is far from a guarantee.

Isak is one of the best strikers in the world, and if he was to leave Newcastle, he’d surely join one of Europe’s top clubs that are contending to not only compete in, but to win, the Champions League.
