Michael Stewart believes Rangers are feeling the pressure not just from Celtic but also from Aberdeen given their start to the season.

Before their game against St Mirren on 27 October, Gers found themselves nine points shy of the Dons on the SPFL table.

Jimmy Thelin’s side have won eight of their nine games this season and are still unbeaten in the league.

Stewart told Premier Sports, as quoted by Aberdeen Live: “I’ll tell you what else it does, if Aberdeen get the three points here, it puts mega pressure on Rangers tomorrow (against St Mirren on Sunday) followed up Wednesday night at Pittodrie.

“It adds a real dynamic to the league campaign, as a whole, and to that fixture on Wednesday.”

If Philippe Clement cannot turn around the club’s form, there’s a compelling argument for Thelin to replace him, especially given Aberdeen’s remarkable start to the season under his management.

Thelin has transformed Aberdeen into a formidable force, currently leading the SPFL standings with an unbeaten record, which not only showcases his tactical acumen but also his ability to motivate and organise a team effectively.

This success contrasts sharply with Gers’ current struggles, where despite the Belgian’s previous achievements, the team has been unable to match the intensity and consistency shown by Aberdeen.
