Stuart Kettlewell admits Motherwell have yet to have contact from any club regards a transfer bid for Rangers-linked Lennon Miller.
The Daily Record said scouts from Rangers and Celtic are tracking the 18-year-old midfielder, with Liverpool and Southampton also monitoring the teenager (21 November).
However, Well boss Kettlewell said as yet no team has put forward a proposal when he was asked about Miller’s future.
In quotes reported by the Daily Record (21 November), he said: “None whatsoever. Not a single thing. It’s not something we speak about. Contrary to all the rumours and clubs and people who have been at games watching.
“That may well be the case but it’s not going to affect my thinking or Lennon’s. Having his family stability behind him, the support he’s got from his family and representative, I have no qualms that his mindset is going to change any time soon.
“I think he should be here for the next 10-15 years. All joking aside, I’m not in control of that at all. What I am in control of is picking a fantastic young player, who has been incredibly consistent for me over the last 18 months or so.
“Someone who has been wearing the captain’s armband and showing an incredible level of maturity. I’m in control of that aspect of it. How well he performs or how well he does will dictate what happens in the future.”
Rangers face tough battle for Motherwell ace Lennon Miller
Is Miller the type of player Rangers should be targeting? Absolutely, 100 per cent yes.
But it is clearly not quite as simple as that. The talented teen has no shortage of suitors, some of whom have the riches of the Premier League to offer and if those clubs come calling then simply the Gers might be blown out of the water.
More concerning is the fact Celtic are also hovering around and the uncomfortable truth right now is that Rangers simply cannot compete financially with their Old Firm rivals so it comes down to a money battle it is one the club are unlikely to win.
Having said that, the Gers are showing they have no qualms about targeting younger talent, as shown with the signing of Connor Barron, and should Miller opt for a move to Ibrox you do feel like he would be afforded more game time than most of the other clubs watching his situation.
