‘I’m sure’: Alasdair Gold names the signing Ange Postecoglou would ‘love’ Spurs to make in January

Tottenham Hotspur were one of the busiest teams in the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

Spurs made the biggest signing of the summer in the shape of Dominic Solanke, while they also splashed the cash on the signings of Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert.

Tottenham spent a lot in the summer, but their squad is far from being fully fleshed out and complete.

Indeed, Spurs sit 10th in the Premier League table, and improvements are needed.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing some of Tottenham’s January transfer plans, and he says that Ange Postecoglou would love to sign a new creative midfielder for Tottenham in the winger.

Ange Postecoglou would love a new creative midfielder

Gold shared some insight into Tottenham’s transfer plans.

The journalist says that Postecoglou would really like another creative midfielder, but he’s not sure a move will happen in the next transfer window.

“James Maddison, Kulusevski, Bergvall and Sarr flesh out the rest of the midfielder options,” Gold said.

“I’m sure Postecoglou would love to have another creative midfielder, I’m sure he would love to have it, but it would have to be someone perfect for that role or a versatile player who can play various roles. Otherwise I would imagine that’s more of a position for the summer.”

Who could Tottenham sign in January?

Postecoglou would like a new creative midfielder through the door in January, and Spurs have been linked with a number of options.

Postecoglou is keen on Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Angel Gomes has been linked to Spurs and Tottenham are also keen on Andy Diouf.

Spurs have been linked with three solid midfield options there, and the stats show that all three players could be good for Tottenham.

Baleba would perhaps be the best of the three options. After all, at the age of just 20, he is the youngest of the trio, he’s the most well-rounded as he combines brilliant defensive work with creativity, while he is Premier League proven too.

Baleba would be an expensive acquisition, but if Spurs are going to challenge at the top level, they will need to push the boat out and bring in a player of this calibre.

A new creative midfield option could be something Spurs look at in the near future.
