'Incredible' - Tam McManus predicts scoreline of Rangers v Celtic Scottish League Cup final

Tam McManus has predicted Celtic to pick up a 2-1 victory against Rangers in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday.

He admits that after Gers’ uptick in form, it was tougher to choose a winner but still does not fancy Philippe Clement’s side to beat Brendan Rodgers’ men.

The Ibrox outfit go into the game at Hampden Park on 15 December as underdogs.

McManus told PLZ Soccer at 40:19: “Well, if you’d have asked me a month ago, I’d have been a firm Celtic, easily. I’m not so sure now. I still think Celtic will win the cup, but I just think Rangers are playing with a bit of confidence at the minute. Something’s clicked. And I think it’ll be a close game, but I just think Celtic turn up in big games.

“Until Celtic don’t turn up in a big game, you just have to always back them. Someone mentioned Brendan Rodgers’ record there against Rangers, it’s incredible.

“The difference for me is Celtic will go expecting to win; Rangers will go hoping to win. And I’ll go for 2-1 to Celtic.”

Philippe Clement needs to get his Rangers selection spot on

Recent form should indeed galvanise the Gers players as they head into the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic.

After an uptick in their performances, the confidence within Clement’s squad seems to have surged, potentially giving them the psychological boost needed for such a high-stakes match.
