Injury Expert issues Everton defender Branthwaite update post groin surgery

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite could be back in training post his groin injury right after the international break, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as he had to undergo surgery, it’s important that it’s given time to heal before he can return to training and eventually first-team football.

The 22-year-old has not yet played for the Toffees this season with them conceding goals aplenty in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Branthwaite:

“The first thing post-operation on the groin is to allow for proper healing time and then the key becomes gradually improving mobility and strength which is particularly important since the groin region is quite central and involves in basically all upright movements and then progressing to work in the gym and cardio and finally to sport-specific movements.

“If he’s expected back in late September then I’d reckon he’d be back in training by mid September or so.

“The club will be monitoring him closely during the international break and will then take a call closer to the next game.”

Jarrad Branthwaite returning will be a significant boost for Everton

Sean Dyche’s side have struggled defensively this season and it’s not the same team that was tough to break down last season.

A lot of it has to do with Branthwaite not being there as he was among the best defenders in the Premier League.

Hopefully, his return helps tighten things at the back and the Toffees can get points on the board and climb up the table.
