Insider: Everton fans play key role in Sean Dyche sack decision

Everton fans are expected to play a key role in whether Sean Dyche is sacked amid growing pressure on the manager’s position at Goodison Park.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that pressure from the stands could force the new owners into a decision.

As things stand, Dan Friedkin’s takeover from Farhad Moshiri is expected to be confirmed before the end of the year, putting an end to the suspense over the club’s future.

However, the attention is then set to turn to Dyche’s position and there is a growing belief that the new owners will make a big decision.

Brown has insisted that growing pressure from the stands at Goodison Park will have an influence as Friekdin will want to appease the fans in the early days of his ownership.

This comes following a turbulent start to the season for Everton, with just two wins from their opening 12 games, while they have also failed to score in any of their last three games.

As a result of their inconsistent form, Dyche has come under pressure, with a 0-0 draw at home against ten-man Brentford leaving large sections of the home crowd unhappy.

Now, Brown, who has worked closely with top managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Ron Atkinson and David Moyes, has insisted that the new owners will be keen to get the supporters on side and could be tempted to make a big decision.

“The decision will be up to the new owners when they come in,” he told Football Insider.

“At the moment, the people currently are the club are standing behind Dyche, but that could all change when they’re replaced.

“Especially when you consider the fans are starting to become restless.

“If they’re putting pressure on the board to sack the manager, then I’d say that makes it more likely that they will pull the trigger.

“New owners will come in and they’ll be keen to get the fans on side immediately.

“So if they’re calling for Dyche’s head at Goodison Park, the new owners will want to make a decision which will keep those supporters happy.”
