Connor Goldson has been spotted with the Rangers squad ahead of the trip to face Birmingham City, Football Scotland reports.
The outlet carried an image via their website on 23 July which had been shared via social media earlier in the day showing the centre-back boarding a plane with his Light Blues teammates.
Goldson has been heavily-linked to an Ibrox exit this summer and was believed to have flown to Cyprus in recent days amid links to Aris Limassol [This Is Mappa, 21 July], who have since confirmed they are close to signing a defender.
Rangers Review’s Derek Clark reported on 23 July he understood the 31-year-old was undertaking a medical and colleague Joshua Barrie also expects him to leave, although neither are certain yet where to.
Connor Goldson with Rangers squad but exit expected
James Tavernier is thought to be close to a move [The 4th Official, 20 July] and hasn’t featured at all during preseason, while fellow exit-linked player Todd Cantwell has sat out as well.
They are both said to be carrying slight injuries, according to Andy Devlin on 12 July, so it would be a precautionary measure either way but if Goldson was about to seal a move imminently he would probably not be on his way to face Birmingham City.
New keeper Liam Kelly is visible so the photo has to be from this July but it is just possible the picture was taken on the way to the Netherlands earlier this month.
If Goldson did travel to Cyprus on Sunday (21 July) then there is actually nothing to stop him from being back with the team two days later, especially as Aris have admitted the defender they are looking to sign is not an easy deal.
But whether this dispels suggestions that Goldson is close to a move or was having a medical in Cyprus or not remains to be seen.
If he is fit then he, like Cyriel Dessers who is also linked to an exit but has played during the preseason, will presumably stay involved until a deal is sealed to let him go.
It certainly seems like now would be the right time to find him a next club like Tavernier but until anything is announced that is subject to change.
In other Rangers news, the top attacker in the Light Blues squad is wanted in England as well as Saudi Arabia.
