'Interesting' - Finance Expert reacts to update on multi-club compo claim against Everton

Stefan Borson finds it “interesting” that only Burnley’s case for compensation from the Everton PSR case has survived.

In a report about the Toffees’ case from The Times (14 November), David Phillips KC – who was part of the commission which placed a 10-point deduction on Everton 12 months ago – said that only Burnley’s case is still standing.

Reacting via his personal X account (14 November), football finance expert Borson also weighed in on the conversation, with the likes of Leicester City and Leeds United having said to have previously considered action.

“Interesting to see confirmation that only Burnley’s case v Everton has survived with other clubs presumably not confident they could make out causation on alleged losses,” he wrote.

Everton to distance themselves from further PSR debacles when The Friedkin Group take over?

Even though it feels like the process has been long and dragged out, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel in terms of Everton being taken over.

The Friedkin Group has reached an agreement with Farhad Moshiri to acquire his 94 per cent stake in the Toffees.

The takeover process may feel like it’s taking far too long but at the moment, no problems are set to arise with the American group set to take control before the end of the year.

Last season was arguably one of the toughest in Everton’s history thanks to their two separate breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules, which resulted in a record top-flight points deduction for the Toffees.

They managed to survive and even spent a decent amount of money in the summer, but once Dan Friedkin has taken over, one of his top priorities should be to run the club sustainably and avoid any further debacles.

As for Burnley, let’s just wait and see if anything ever comes of that reported claim.
