'It was absolutely his fault' - King slams Tottenham big name, blames him for draw v Leicester

Bryan King claims Cristian Romero was at fault for Leicester’s equalising goal against Tottenham.

The ex-Spurs scout believes the defender’s poor positioning allowed Jamie Vardy the opportunity to net an equaliser.

Pedro Porro’s first-half goal was cancelled out by the striker during the second half with the match finishing 1-1 at the King Power Stadium on Monday (19 August).

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has blamed Romero for the disappointing result.

“I don’t know where Romero was for Leicester’s goal, he was caught ball-watching,” King said.

“It was absolutely his fault. We’re talking about a World Cup winner, someone who performed very well for the club last season.

“He got pulled across and forgot Vardy was still in the box, which resulted in the striker equalising and then suddenly there was a period where Spurs were hanging on.”

Cristian Romero lets Ange Postecoglou down in Tottenham v Leicester

Ange Postecoglou would no doubt have been left scratching his head this morning. The Australian, as well as many supporters, will be baffled as to how Tottenham didn’t leave the Midlands with all three points.

Spurs dominated the large majority of the match but were unable to convert a host of chances they created.

As a result, one switch-off at the back from Romero then allowed Vardy to equalise, with Tottenham made to rue their missed opportunities.

While it is perhaps unfair to place the blame entirely on the central defender, Postecoglou will no doubt expect more from Romero.

And the Argentinian and his teammates will need to show a response when Everton visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (24 August).

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has two young players to keep an eye on after their recent goalscoring heroics.
