John Wenham believes Yves Bissouma’s Tottenham career is “in danger”.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has blasted the midfielder for his “stupid” antics.

It comes after Bissouma was handed a club-imposed one-match suspension after a video emerged which appeared to show the midfielder inhaling laughing gas (via Sky Sports News, 15 August).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that this has left the Malian’s long-term Spurs prospects “in the balance.”

“I think these antics have put his career in danger,” Wenham said.

“He won’t be sold this window, I think it is too late. However, in the long term, he will only be contracted with Tottenham until 2026.

“Therefore, I think his Spurs career is in the balance. From everything I read, it seemed like Ange Postecoglou was counting on Bissouma as one of the more senior players in the squad.

“He is coming into his third year as a Spurs player now and he is still making these stupid mistakes. It wasn’t as if someone filmed him, he actually filmed himself.

“It’s just incredible that he would be that stupid to do something like that in this day and age.”

Ange Postecoglou to give up on Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma?

Bissouma responded in the best way possible to his recent mistakes, scoring his first goal for the club as Spurs thrashed Everton 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (24 August).

However, it will no doubt take a lot more than that for the 27-year-old to earn back Postecoglou’s full trust.

Bissouma made a fantastic start to the 2023/24 season, but his form slowly fizzled out. As a result, he will need to prove this season that he can be a consistent performer in North London.

Otherwise, considering his recent ban, and the fact that he only has two years left on his deal, Spurs might start reconsidering the ex-Brighton man’s long-term future with the club.

In other Tottenham news, one player could leave the club for free as a “miserable” claim emerges.
