'It's Understood' - Dharmesh Sheth drops fresh update on Branthwaite Everton exit to Man United

Manchester United could walk away from a deal for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite if they don’t lower their asking price, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

Writing on his personal X account (17 June), the Sky Sports reporter claims the Red Devils are discussing whether or not to return with a second bid after their opening offer of £43million was rejected last week.

Everton want around £70million to allow the 21-year-old defender to leave Goodison Park this summer, but United won’t go that high and have a list of alternative options if a deal can’t be found between the clubs.

“Manchester United discussing whether to go back in for defender Jarrad Branthwaite,” he wrote.

“It’s understood if Everton don’t reduce asking price, United will move onto other targets.

“Those include Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Lille’s Leny Yoro and Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.”

Everton to crumble at Manchester United demands for Jarrad Branthwaite?

It’s been clear for several months that Branthwaite was a wanted man this summer, and that Manchester United were going to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

But it’s also been made abundantly clear the whole time that the Toffees don’t want to lose their star defender and will demand a huge fee to let him go.

Reports have suggested that Everton may need to sell before June 30, but the club have denied those claims and are holding firm on their valuation for a player who many believe will go on to become a regular for England in the years to come.

But if Everton are just bluffing and do need to sell, then it’s very possible that their demands could wilt in the coming days and weeks and they end up crumbling to those demands and dropping their asking price.

In an ideal world Man United do walk away from the deal as it makes life easier for the club to keep Branthwaite, but there is a long way to go in this saga.

In other Everton news, Dan Friedkin could be set to sack Sean Dyche as manager once he completes his takeover of the club.
