'I've been told' - Journo shares what he has heard about Dujon Sterling injury at Rangers

Rangers defender Dujon Sterling is fit to feature against Ross County despite speculation that he had suffered a new injury, according to Joshua Barrie.

The Rangers Review journalist reported via YouTube on Wednesday (21 August, 23:10) that he has been told the versatile defender will be in contention for the clash on Saturday (24 August) at Hampden Park.

Rumours began to circulate on social media on Tuesday (20 August) that the Englishman was set for yet another spell on the sidelines having broken his wrist, but that appears to be little more than speculation.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel, Barrie said: “No, I think he’s fine to play at the weekend that’s what I’ve been told.

“I believe as things stand, he will be in contention for the weekend.”

While there has been plenty of talk around supporters over Sterling’s fitness over the past couple of days, it seems as though the word from inside the Gers camp is that the defender will still feature in the coming weeks.

The former Chelsea man has impressed when fit in Glasgow, but his injury record has been a cause for concern as he has repeatedly missed big games and even a large portion of pre-season due to a lack of fitness.

When he is available, he is one of the first names on the teamsheet given his versatility and the Light Blues always look better when he is on the pitch, regardless of what position he finds himself in at any given time.

Hopefully, Clement will confirm that Sterling hasn’t picked up a new injury when he speaks to the press ahead of Saturday’s clash and the Englishman will feature as normal.

Rangers simply have to pick up all three points to try and close the gap and keep the pace with Celtic at the top of the table. They cannot afford to give their Old Firm rivals too big a head start in the title race.
