Wrexham star James McClean has aimed a sensational social media dig at Birmingham City fans after their 3-1 defeat on Monday.
The 35-year-old was subject to abuse from Birmingham fans throughout the game, with coffee cups and other projectiles thrown at him from the stands.
The Republic of Ireland international was unsurprisingly front and centre when tensions boiled over close to the final whistle.
Teammate Paul Mullin was involved in a scuffle with Birmingham’s Alex Cochrane and even appeared to attempt to bite the defender.
In the end, two goals from £15million man Jay Stansfield and a well-placed effort from Tomoki Iwata were enough to secure a victory for Chris Davies’ side.
Wrexham star James McClean courting controversy yet again
The defender is no stranger to controversial moments, his refusal to wear a poppy since coming to England has seen him receive ire from fans up and down the country.
McClean was even videoed saluting Wrexham fans who sang an anti-monarchy song just weeks after Prince William visited the club.
He has now taken to Instagram to call out and insult Birmingham City fans following their game on Monday.
The picture of him pretending to drink from a cup that had been launched at him by an opposing fan in accompanied by a quote from IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands.
Sands, who died at HMP Sands in Northern Ireland during The Troubles in 1981, reportedly said, “They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of an Irishman who doesn’t want to be broken”.
