James McClean sends X-rated message to Wrexham teammate after announcement

Wrexham star James McClean sent an X-rated message to teammate William Boyle following his latest announcement.

Boyle, 29, announced via his Instagram, that he had applied to be on the Professional Footballer’s Association players’ board to which McClean, 35, quickly responded.

Boyle said: “Through my own lived experiences I have found professional football an all-consuming environment. It can provide a powerful sense of belonging, connection and purpose while equally posing many challenges, notably for me around self-identity and self-understanding.

“I have utilised the PFA’s various services throughout my career to date. These opportunities have allowed me to step out of the football bubble that I often find myself in and provided me with a different perspective.

The Wrexham centre-back added, “I want to help the PFA continue to improve and push forward, by listening to and working with as many members as possible.”

The Republic of Ireland international is no stranger to social media controversy, recently aiming a remarkable dig at Birmingham City fans after their 3-1 defeat earlier in the season.

McClean shared Boyle’s statement on Instagram, adding a cheeky caption: “Having a big Willy is always a plus, so vote big Willy for PFA. @wboyle95.”

Wrexham currently sit in second, two points behind Birmingham in the race for promotion from League One to the Championship.

Once the international break is over, they will travel to Rotherham United ahead of their game on Saturday, October 19th.
