Jamie Carragher predicts scoreline of Aston villa v Everton match

Jamie Carragher has predicted Everton will continue their losing streak in the Premier League when they face Aston Villa on Saturday [14 September].

The Blues begun their 2024/25 campaign with three consecutive defeats heading into the international break.

Carragher, sharing his prediction for Sky Sports’ Super 6 [12 September], expects the barren run to continue and has backed Unai Emery to pile the pressure on Sean Dyche with Villa to win 2-1 at Villa Park.

Dyche is under the cosh at Goodison Park and a result at Villa Park, of any kind, will go a long way in keeping his side out of the limelight.

The 3-2 loss against Bournemouth was a new low. The Blues held a commanding two-goal lead until the 87th minute and saw two stoppage-time goals decide the match.

There seems to be no end to the drama at Everton right now. The chaos off the pitch and the ongoing takeover is matched by the chaotic displays on the pitch.

A game against high-flying Aston Villa, who will compete in the Champions League this term, is arguably one of the most difficult opponents for Dyche to face in a match where a win is necessary to ease the pressure on his side.

It will not be an easy task. The Toffees will be without Jarrad Branthwaite and potentially Seamus Coleman for the match and will have to field a weakened defence against a Villa side on a high following a win over Leicester City prior to the two-week break.

Everton supporters will be dreaming of three points but would be more than happy with one. But the result on Saturday could have monumental consequences for the future of the manager and the club.
