Sources close to Moshiri have never confirmed what Textor said about Everton takeover – report

Farhad Moshiri sources are yet to confirm if John Textor has agreed to an exclusivity period at Everton, according to The Daily Mail.

The newspaper shared the update on 12 September as sources close to the Everton owner appear to have gone quiet in recent months.

It comes after Textor stated his takeover bid has a “90 per cent chance” of going through [Le Progres, 11 September], making clear his confidence.

In response to Textor’s claims, the club even released an official statement, with interim CEO Colin Chong confirming that there is still work to be done despite “positive conversations” with the American.

Although Textor may well have entered into an exclusivity agreement with Moshiri despite a lack of confirmation, that still won’t mean much in terms of progress in the fans’ eyes.

The Goodison faithful have been here before – and in recent months too – with 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group both having seen their exclusivity agreements with Moshiri come to nothing.

Textor shapes as a potential third-time lucky in this case, but that still won’t provide much comfort for a fanbase who have already witnessed two potential takeovers fall to pieces at this stage.

Entering into such talks with Moshiri wouldn’t guarantee success this time either, with Textor yet to sell his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace before he can become the owner of another Premier League club.

With a whole host of financial issues to wade through before even contemplating things like the squad and their position in the league, Textor’s takeover still has a long way to go.
