Rangers have hit “Crisis” after defeat to Kilmarnock on 20 October, Jim White has said.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (21 October, 11:43), White and Martin O’Neill reacted to the 1-0 loss at Rugby Park, which saw them miss a golden opportunity to close the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

O’Neill, a serial silverware winner with Celtic, has been a long-term critic of the current Ibrox setup, and the abject performance of Philippe Clement’s side only backed up his verdict.

White said: “It’s pretty much crisis time at Rangers.

O’Neill replied: “I’ve been saying for some weeks now that they’re really, really ordinary, Rangers – really ordinary.”

“They’re unrecognisable from the team you used to face aren’t they?”, asked White.

O’Neill was in agreement, saying: “Absolutely.”

Rangers hit crisis at Ibrox

Supporters in the away end voiced their displeasure throughout the defeat at Kilmarnock, with banners unfurled against the board.

Both on and off the field, the Light Blues appear rudderless, with Clement doing his best to mask the failings of an Ibrox boardroom which appears to get smaller and smaller by the week.

Philippe Clement faces a tough task to turn the Light Blues into Scottish Premiership title contenders

Looking back on the days when the club went toe-to-toe with O’Neill’s Celtic side, is something that fans can only strive for in 2024, so far are Clement’s side off the pace in the Premiership running.

Celtic and Aberdeen – both of whom had 100 per cent records before the weekend – drawing 2-2 and dropping points in the process opened the door for the Bears, but they couldn’t capitalise at Rugby Park.

Time will only tell as to the next direction this new-look Gers team will take, and it remains to be seen if Clement is the man to turn things around and embark upon bridging the gap.

In other Rangers news, Billy Dodds singled out one Gers player for criticism after his display in the drab defeat at Rugby Park.
