Chris Beesley has mooted the possibility of Youseff Chermiti exiting Everton on loan during the January transfer window after new transfer developments.
The Portuguese forward, who arrived on Merseyside last summer, had an impressive pre-season with the Toffees but is set for an extended spell on the sidelines having undergone an operation on an injury.
Although the 20-year-old had seemingly forced his way into Sean Dyche’s plans this season, Liverpool Echo journalist Beesley admits the forward could leave on loan after the Toffees signed Armando Broja on deadline day.
Speaking on The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel (6 September, 35:52) he said: “Chermiti is there, but he’s injured as well.
“I wonder if he’ll now be loaned out in the second half of the season when he gets himself fit.”
Will Youseff Chermiti exit Everton after Armando Broja transfer?
With Broja, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto all fighting for the only number nine role in Dyche’s system this season, it is hard to see how and where Chermiti will fit into the Blues boss’ plans when he returns from injury.
He may well have impressed during pre-season, but it would be an incredibly bold call on Dyche’s behalf to throw a relatively unproven forward into the starting XI ahead of two internationals and a senior striker.
Of course, things can change very quickly in football and there is still a chance that one of Calvert-Lewin or Beto could leave in January and therefore open up a space for Chermiti, but at the moment a loan exit feels the most likely course of action.
The 20-year-old would benefit from a temporary move away from Goodison Park if it allowed him to join a club where he could lead the line week in and week out and continue to hone his craft.
Chermiti has never really been given a consistent run in a first team in his brief professional career so far and the second half of the season could well be the perfect opportunity for the player and his club.
