Beto is expected to be “fully available” for the showdown between Everton and Fulham, according to Joe Thomas.
Sean Dyche’s side are looking to stretch their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions when they face Fulham at Goodison Park on Saturday (26 October).
Beto was named on the bench for the Toffees’ 2-0 win over Ipswich but wasn’t introduced having been ill in the build-up. However, Liverpool Echo journalist Thomas expects him to be ready to return against Marco Silva’s side.
Speaking on the Royal Blue YouTube channel (25 October, 9:00) he said: “Jesper Lindstrom is the other one who was out due to illness last week but he’s back now.
“With that, we’re assuming Beto who was on the bench last week but had a bit of illness before the game, we’re assuming that he will be fully available as well.”
What has happened to Everton striker Beto at Goodison Park?
While it is unlikely Beto will feature from the off against Silva’s side on Saturday, it is a boost to both Dyche and the Toffees to have the forward ready to feature if and when required once again.
He is far from the perfect forward and his future on Merseyside does remain unclear, but he has a role to play in this Blues team this season, particularly while both Armando Broja and Youseff Chermiti remain sidelined.
There has been a reliance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the top end of the pitch over the last few seasons and while Beto hasn’t been able to challenge the England international for his starting spot, he has at least managed to shoulder the burden.
Having the 26-year-old fully fit and available once again will allow Dyche to change things up in the second half if Everton are either clinging on to a lead or trying to claw their way back into the game.
In an ideal world, it would be one of Chermiti or Broja who were back to full fitness, but the Toffees will have to make do with what they have for now.
