Dan Bardell has urged Tottenham to sign a striker ahead of Pedro Neto from Wolves.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 4 August that Spurs “really appreciate” the Portugal international who’s “always” been on their transfer shortlist.

Express & Star journalist Liam Keen then added on 9 August that Spurs had made a player-plus-cash bid for the attacker which included Oliver Skipp. Wolves, however, have rejected the offer for Neto before agreeing a deal with Chelsea.

While showing an interest in the 24-year-old, Ange Postecoglou’s side have moved closer to signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for a club-record fee [Duncan Castles].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Barell has urged Tottenham to prioritise signing the striker as opposed to Neto.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I like Neto and I think he is really good.

Spurs have got players who they have spent money on in that position already.

For me, Spurs need a forward, like Solanke, that is where they need to be investing their money at the moment.

There are forwards out there that will improve Spurs so I don’t think they should go after Neto.

They should put all their eggs in the striker basket.

Tottenham warned off signing Pedro Neto

The Wolves star has shown some electric form ever since moving to the Premier League from Braga in 2019.

What has let the Portuguese talent down is his fitness issues which have limited him to less than 25 appearances in his last three seasons in all competitions [FotMob].

This should be cause for concern for Postecoglou who would have to spend a large transfer fee on Neto if he wants to bring him in.

Spending that money on a striker like Solanke is likely to have a much greater impact on the squad in North London than an additional winger.

Considering the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski also want to play off the right, there is little logic in signing Neto.

In other Tottenham news, Jacob Ramsey has been backed to snub a move to Spurs as it would be viewed as a step backwards
