King claims behind-the-scenes 'Trouble' is now slowing down Tottenham new transfer

Bryan King believes behind-the-scenes issues are preventing Ivan Toney from securing a transfer to Tottenham.

The ex-Spurs scout doesn’t understand why the Brentford striker has struggled to secure a move away from the Bees this summer.

As reported by talkSPORT (8 August), Tottenham are ready to step up their pursuit of Toney with Brentford thought to be willing to accept a bid of £50million.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims he is curious to see how this transfer saga plays out.

“I’m not sure why it has taken Toney so long to get a move,” King said.

“There must be some trouble behind the scenes with him because the money is pretty reasonable for a top striker.

“And in Premier League terms he is a top striker. Therefore, there must be some issues at play so it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.”

It appears as though Tottenham have a choice to make in the number nine position.

It is no secret that Ange Postecoglou needs a brand-new striker at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Richarlison found the back of the net 11 times in the Premier League last season, but his lack of availability is an issue.

As a result, Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has been linked with a move to North London (via Fabrizio Romano, 7 August).

However, Spurs will presumably only be able to sign one of Solanke or Toney, which leaves the club with a choice to make.

And that is a choice which should ultimately be made by Postecoglou, and nobody else.
