Dan Bardell believes Scott McTominay will stay at Manchester United despite interest from Everton.

The Athletic reported on 20 August that the Toffees were looking to sign the Scotland international in a move away from Old Trafford.

Talks are underway but given Everton’s financial uncertainty they will have to “get creative” if they want to push a deal over the line for the 27-year-old.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks the midfielder would reject a move to Merseyside in favour of staying at Old Trafford.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “He’s been linked for a while. There has been interest from other clubs for a while as well.

He’s quite resilient and has chosen to stay at Manchester United and he’ll probably do the same thing again. He knows he’s not the first choice but he always battles himself into the team.

I think he just backs himself to break his way into their team.

United are going to want between £25m-30m for Scott McTominay and I just don’t see Everton being able to pay that.

I don’t see him leaving Man United.

Sean Dyche is clearly looking to add to his squad before the transfer deadline at the end of August.

This has only been pushed to the fore after the Toffees’ opening day 3-0 defeat against Brighton which was met by negativity from supporters.

Signing McTominay could prove to bring some excitement to Goodison given his performances as a fringe player for the Red Devils over the years.

The Scot would bring versatility to Dyche’s squad given that he has played in every central midfield role as well as being a striker and centre back at different points.

The Man United academy graduate has an eye for goal and wants to play mainly as a box-to-box style player.

A move to Goodison could prove to be beneficial for all sides, it will hinge on the financial details of the deal.
